WILLIAM PERRY THE TIPTON SLASHER

William Perry, born 1819, died 1880 known as theTipton Slasher, the once champion prizefighter of England from 1850-1857. He used to train in The Fountain Inn. His statue is located in Coronation Gardens, Tipton.

My Grandfather, Thomas Wildman, grew up in the Waggoners Arms, Wolverhampton.
Family history has it that, as a small boy, he sat onthe knee of a famous customer - The Tipton Slasher!
